Your gateway to the stunning Top End of the Northern Territory. LookAbout Tours was founded by Geoff and Jane Barrett, passionate travellers and experienced business owners dedicated to sharing the magic of the Australian outback.
How we started out...
Our working journey together began in 1998 when we opened our first retail shop in Montville, a charming tourist village on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
For over 20 years, we successfully operated our educational toy shops. This rewarding venture granted us the opportunity to travel extensively across Australia and Overseas, fueling our deep love for discovery.
When we sold the business, the irresistible draw of the rugged Australian outback led us straight to the Top End. Settling into our home base in Humpty Doo, we knew we wanted to channel our experience into something that helped others connect with this unique part of the world.
Why LookAbout Tours?
LookAbout Tours was born from Geoff’s lifelong passion for learning and storytelling. After years of exploring, Geoff turned his dream of guiding in the Northern Territory into a reality.
While his deep knowledge of the region brings local history and ecology to life, it is the forever-changing tropical landscape of the Top End that makes every single tour an unforgettable experience.
When we're not out and about showcasing the Top End with our guests, you'll find us busily exploring the globe. We regularly travel nationally and internationally, frequently visiting Germany so Geoff can continue to master the German language, because a true explorer never stops learning!

GEOFF
Geoff is the specialist guide who since watching Hey Hey it's Saturday in the 1990's dreamed of being a Top End Tour Guide! With his genuine love of the Top Ends History, Wildlife and Nature he is bringing his extensive knowledge and expertise. His dedication to creating meaningful connections between people and nature has been instrumental in shaping the exceptional Top End experiences that LookAbout Tours offers.
JANE
Jane is the LookAbout Tours Travel Coordinator. With her 25 (plus!) years in business management, organisation and customer service she is ensuring seamless and enriching experiences for our guests.
Jane is always there to liaise and answer any questions you may have while curating your unique LookAbout in the Top End NT .
